RE: Re Leaky Lexington

Sorry to hear of your problem. Keep after Lexington and make them stand up to the plate. Sounds like your problem was from the get go. My unit is a 2003 Jayco 31A Escapade and this fall Jayco will take it back to the factory for a complete top replacement and possible drivers side. To explane, I had a small leak and after many inspections and a window replacement the roof to sidewall seam was the problem. In 2003 Jayco went to a TPO roof instead of the rubber roof to try to stop cauking down the sides from the rubber. The TPO has a fiber backing and at some of the screw attachments along the sidewall to roof connection they weeped water in under the roof. After an inspection at the dealers to make sure i did nothing to the unit, Jayco authorized the dealer to open up the suspect areas and report to them. I received a call from Jayco that they will take the motorhome to the factory to replace the complete top and sidewall if nessary at no cost to me. Here it is 2008 and Jayco is doing this for us. You know when i decide to replace my present unit i will be dealing with Jayco and only Jayco. Denny

RE: Poor Refrigerator Performance In Hot Weather

The biggest problem i have found in refrigerator's not cooling when there seems to nothing wrong with them mechanically is the space between the cooling fins on the back of the refrigerator. The air entering from below up the back and through the fins is critical espically the space between the fins and the outside wall. This space needs to be as narrow as possible so all the air flowing up passes through the fins. When manufactures assemble these motorhomes that critical space is not always addressed. Hope this helps Denny

RE: water in the drivers foot well of a minnie winnie

Ford had a fix remedy for this firewall leak. Took 3 times to the ford dealer to remedy my problem. That was 3 yrs ago and still no leak. My unit is a 2003 e450. Check with your Ford dealer about it. It's a warrentee item. Denny

RE: Any one fasten Wheel Cover / Hubcap on duals

Had same problem and was solved by installing Chrome wheel liners, I lost 3 covers on mine. The liners are not to expensive and they install very simple and look much better. In my case Jayco payed for them.Denny

RE: Roof Cleaning

Murphys oil soap is all i have ever used and it does a perfect job. I do the whole motorhome with it and it always leaves a great shine, looks like i just waxed it. I get it at Walmart. Removes the black streaks and the roof looks like new.

RE: Manufacturers: who has staying power

Jayco would be my choice for a company that will be around and doing good. I know that they ventured into Class A's awhile back and gave it up but the rumor is that they will be building them again and soon. I own a 2003 class c of thier's and far past warrantee. I have had a leak problem in the rear side wall window area since i bought it new. Caulking and even replacing the window after the warantree was up, at no expense to me,this was done in 2005 did not stop the leak. It wasn't a constant leak but now in 2008 it had developed into a real problem. I took pictures of all the tests i did to eliminate the window being the source and explained in a long letter what i thought was happening. To make a long story short Jayco will take my motorhome back to the factory in the fall to completely remove the top and all sidewall area where there is delamination. All 31 feet of the top gone, roof, ceiling etc and the best part is that there is no cost to me. Now that is a company who stands behind there product and people will remember and they will be around 10 years and much longer. They also are a private company and doing well even in this slow economy. I know who i will buy from in the future. Denny

RE: What the best car wash to use on your Motor Home

I have had numerous trailers and now a motorhome and have always used Murphys oil soap. It's inexpensive at walmart and cleans the black streaks and everything else and leaves a great shine. I would recommend nothing else. It's also great on the tpo or rubber roofs. Denny

just wondering

I was just wondering if any of the oil refined in America to produce Gasoline is then sent to other countries. I know other countries pay more per gallon than we do and it would be very entiseing for the oil company's to do that. In these times this should never happen. If someone knows please responde. Denny

RE: Advice Needed!

We were in your position in 2003 and really did not know what brand of class c we wanted. We finally decided on the Jayco Escapade 31A. It turned out to be our best decision ever. Through the years we have had it, some small things have had to be taken care of and they were by the dealer, with no complaints from me Jayco was always wonderful as was the dealer. Now to make my point, we had a spuradic leak that we could never find comming in the rear bedroom window. Jayco replaced the window after warrentee at no cost to me, but the leak continued. Finally in the last few months we descovered the leak was comming from the roof to sidewall factory seal and was leaking most likely since the begining. Thinking i was 3 years past warrentee, i would have to absorb the repair cost which would be considerable. On a whim i wrote Jayco a letter and took pictures and explaned what i thought was and is still going on with the motorhome.I sent them by e mail. They replyed and told me to take it to my dealer for inspection. The dealer looked for a bad caulk joint or rip or any damage to the roof and found none. Jayco then instructed them to open up the roof to sidewall area and report to them. I received a call from Jayco service department informing me that the dealer will seal up the leaking area for the summer so i can use the motorhome and then in the fall it will be taken to there factory for a complete roof and possible sidewall replacement. How many companies would stand by there product like that. So i say to you consider Jayco when you buy your first motorhome Denny

RE: MUST READ leak at roof to sidewall seal

To jhinson748 No my repairs will be made in the fall and i will not have a loaner to use but i did not ask for one. We will have just got back from a planned trip to Maine this fall and then the motorhome will be sent off to the factory for repairs. They plan on 4 weeks to do the job. Then they bring it back to me and i reload everything and get ready to go to florida for the winter. My suggestion is to be patient with them and work with the factory they will do the right thing. If you have problems e mail me ok ddoranjr@twcny.rr.com

MUST READ leak at roof to sidewall seal

I knew when we purchased our jayco class "c" motorhome in 2003 we were doing the right thing. All the little and big concerns and problems we had with our unit were always fixed and in speedy time. Little did we know that the seal at the roof to sidewall in many places was seaping water into the motorhome. At first we thought it was a leaking window and that was eventually replaced by jayco, past warentee, but they did it for free. But the leak showed up again. For 5 years it must have been weaping in and it has finally showed itself in the ceilings and side wall delamination. I thought that I was stuck with a unit that I would not be able to use or sell being so far past warrentee. On a whim, I videoed the problem and wrote a letter to jayco explaning my problem and telling them what I thought was happening. Jayco replyed and asked me to take it to my dealer and they would tell them what they wanted them to do. I took it to them and received a call in a couple of days from my dealer. Jayco asked them to inspect all caukable seams and finding no problem they had them open up the roof area and take pictures of any damage or evidence of leaking, which was extensive and send it to them. I was then called and told to pick up the motorhome and use it for the summer and that my dealer had sealed up all around the roof to sidewall area with a temperary cauk and tape job. Doesn't look very good but at least will not leak. Now for the really surprising thing,JAYCO IS TAKING THE UNIT BACK TO THE FACTORY IN THE FALL TO REMOVE THE COMPLETE TOP OF THE MOTORHOME AND ANY SIDEWALL WITH DELAMINATION AND REPLACE WITH NEW. THE COST TO ME IS NOTHING. How many companies would do this for a customer, not many i'm sure. Bottom line is if your considering a RV check out Jayco. Had some sleepless nights until Jayco gave me this news. Still no money out of my pocket. Thanks for reading Denny
